In the contemporary medical landscape, the synergy between metal 3D printing and TC4 titanium alloy is revolutionizing the production of medical devices and implants. This integration addresses traditional manufacturing challenges, ensuring a harmonious balance between personalized demands, lightweight design, and high strength. The outcome goes beyond improved precision, liberating medical device manufacturing from conventional constraints and presenting patients with safer and more efficient medical solutions.

The TC4 titanium alloy, composed of Ti-6Al-4V, belongs to the (α+β) type titanium alloy, showcasing excellent comprehensive mechanical properties. TC4’s characteristics, including biocompatibility, high strength, and lightweight design, make it an ideal choice for manufacturing complex implants and medical devices in the medical field.

Mechanical Properties

The biocompatibility of TC4 ensures compatibility with human tissues, reducing the risk of implant-related complications. Its high strength and lightweight features enable TC4 to achieve lightweight designs in medical devices, improving product quality and patient comfort.

TC4 material, combined with metal 3D printing technology, is widely used in the manufacturing of artificial joint implants, dental implants, and surgical instruments, among other products. Through 3D printing technology, medical device manufacturing can better adapt to the individualized needs of different patients, allowing for precise customization.

For artificial joint implants, TC4’s high strength and lightweight design improve the fit between the implant and the bone, enhancing the overall surgical experience for patients. In the field of dental implants, TC4 material’s biocompatibility and the high precision application of 3D printing technology allow for better adaptation to the patient’s oral structure. Additionally, TC4 material plays a crucial role in the manufacturing of surgical instruments, improving their durability and functionality.

The HBD metal 3D printing technology, utilizing TC4 material, played a crucial role in supporting a personalized sacral prosthetic surgery case. The patient initially diagnosed with sacral vertebral chordoma and a T12-L1 vertebral canal spinal meningeal cyst underwent a treatment plan, including the posterior removal and internal fixation of the T12-L1 vertebral canal spinal meningeal cyst, as well as the excision and reconstruction of the sacral bone tumor. With the assistance of the HBD metal 3D printing system, the medical team successfully printed a personalized sacral prosthetic using TC4 material. Post-implantation and coupled with lumbar spine and pelvic internal fixation surgery, the patient exhibited a favorable recovery, particularly experiencing significant alleviation of radiating pain in the right lower limb.
