Breaking News: HBD Latest Achievements in Metal Additive Manufacturing

Categories:
Share:

At HBD, we are dedicated to advancing metal additive manufacturing technology, and we’re thrilled to unveil our lates trio of breakthroughs, each designed to tackle key industry challenges and push the boundaries of what’s possible with additive manufacturing.

## Support-Free Printing Solutions

Support structures in additive manufacturing can increase production time and material costs. Removing these support structures can be labor-intensive and may damage delicate thin-walled structures. Moreover, supports in closed structures and internal channels are not removable.   Hence, we developed a support-free printing solution to address these issues.

Additively manufacturing of structures with overhanging angle below 45°are suffering from distortion, local overheating, rough surface, etc. By optimizing the exposure strategy, we have reduced the need for supports of overhanging structures, achieving support-free printing for overhanging angles down to 10°and even 6°for some specific structures. This technical advancement helps to furtherly release design flexibility with additive manufacturing.

## Advancing Ultra-Thin Wall Manufacturing

Thin-walled components are essential to high-end equipment in specific applications, offering benefits such as lightweight design, low energy consumption through printing, and a higher stability surface area, which is especially beneficial for heat-exchange applications. Our latest innovation in this area allows for the precise printing of porous thin walls with a thickness as fine as 0.065mm, providing more reliable solutions for producing ultra-thin wall components. We believe this technology will enhance the performance and efficiency of high-end equipment across various industries.

## Enhancing Surface Quality Without Post-Processing

Surface quality is critical for additively manufactured parts, often requiring extensive post-processing to achieve the desired surface finish. We have made a impressive achievement of printing In718 parts with surface roughness down to 2.229μm under as-printed condition.
